Subsections. We do not do that to each other. We're Ravagers, we got a code. PERSONALITY.![]() Yondu is the type of man that upon meeting him puts many people immediately on edge. His face is fixed in an almost permanent frown and he wears clothing that's generally imposing. He's relatively average (by American standards) in height, but the way that he carries himself compensates for it; with an intimidating air of authority and unsubtle aggression. When he does smile, he reveals a mouth of jagged teeth, half of them gold. This isn't exactly a comforting gesture, and often a smile comes with Yondu gaining an advantage over someone with pride in Peter Quill, his adopted son, being a rare exception. Yondu is also casually confident in his appearance, not appearing the least bit modest when hiring prostitutes, he's not ashamed of his scars and wear and aware enough that most of his comments about his remarkable looks are just jokes. His dialog tends towards the threatening, the ridiculing, the commanding, and very occasionally the exhausted. He expresses remorse for a life of ill acts and bad choices, constantly weighed down by the consequences of them. Direct apologies have often been rejected, and he's been left alone. If other people want to be good and kind, let them, but he's seen the worst of how people take advantage of each other. In his opinion, anyone that would try to be kind to him for any amount of time would eventually reject him or cause him problems. Nothing in his life contradicted this, having been rejected by his parents, by his Ravager captain squad, and by Peter Quill (though this changed in their final minutes together). Yondu cares a lot about his crew (which about a third of them are able to recognize the fact that he does, as evidenced by GOTG2) and he cares most about Peter even if he never really gave him a reason to see it. Even among the crew that mutinied, he could recall Vorkor's sleeping habits. He also did his best to make no one feel more important than the other and was able to maintain the act for a couple of decades. In order to keep Peter as part of the crew, he had to stick to a narrative that he had kept him rather than taking him to Ego because he'd be useful for theft. He went out of his way to be agitating and threatening, and even if it was meant in good humor in some cases he's never made a point of clarifying that it was a joke to Peter and knowingly let him think the worst. For all that he comes off as an uncaring rogue, he's surprisingly responsible and does his best to look at the big picture. He's a team player more than a lone wolf when facing a problem. Sometimes he'll bypass good scores for a kinder resolution. He's even pretended to threaten people he likes with death because he needs to maintain a show of power with his crew, but patiently waited to be presented with excuses to spare them. But he can also be ruthless, and if opposed he's not afraid to use lethal force to get rid of whoever is in his way. In fact, he favors it. He's never committed to a romance and it's not a high priority for him. If he had loving relationships in the past, he's not seen fit to mention them in front of anyone nor did anyone notice. His best friend appears to be Kraglin Obfonteri, his first mate, and Kraglin inadvertently betrayed him when he got frustrated with the fact he wouldn't turn on his adopted son in favor of his crew (he was unaware of the depth of Yondu's attachment because he'd hidden it so well). He and Peter seem to be the two most important people in his life, and even Peter he would threaten with death (even if he stalled to find any excuse to not go through with it). Rocket was probably the first person he connected with on a deeper level in years, breaking down and angrily yelling about how he understood him and why he tried to push people away. While Yondu dislikes people that threaten or abuse him otherwise he doesn't have strong feelings. His bitterness at being a Battle Slave doesn't lean towards his slave-masters, the Kree, but towards his parents who sold him knowing what might happen to him. This is probably part of why, when he discovered that Ego was killing his own children, he hid the last one from him. Once he knew what might happen to him he withdrew from the contract no matter how much money he earned. There's the implication that he went to the other Ravager captains to help him, and upon learning what he'd done rather than lend a hand they exiled him to deal with his own actions. Some people he can find annoying, especially people he sees as being full of themselves (something he's passed on to Peter) but for the most part he has a neutral "they're there" opinion about most people. He can get drunk and get along with like-minded individuals, and if you save him from a rough spot you'll have his respect. Even people he's friends with he's abrasive towards eventually, using that as a barrier to protect himself emotionally. He'll be friendlyish with children, often treating them either as little adults or teaching them to protect themselves even at a young age. While he'd make intimidating jokes that might not be funny, he did do things like train Peter to fight and fly a fighter ship as a preteen. Thanks to Yondu's efforts Peter was a competent thief by the time he was twelve. Being that he was sold as a slave at a very young age, he could also have a skewed perspective of what's expected of children. Yondu's number one focus has been money and maintaining his crew. As far as he's concerned, he's in it for himself. He wants to survive and he wants to enjoy his Ravager life. He mostly sticks to the Ravager code even after having been exiled. He'd love to have relationships like that again, he sees how exceptionally rare they are and often finds the effort not worth it. ABILITIES.The fin he's using is the second one in Guardians of the Galaxy. The way it works is it constantly lays out a map of the area around him. He doesn't always have to look at the arrow to guide it, but direct it towards shapes that he detects through the fin's sensors. Visual reference helps for accuracy since a shape doesn't betray many details. His fin is so integrally connected to his brain and its commands are so unique and exclusive that no one else can use the arrow without extensive training. Arrow demonstrations here. He's excellent with combat vehicles, especially as a pilot in a fighter ship. He can also improvise things like mining ships into actual combat ships. He allowed marginalized parties (he did have gay officers) and disabled individuals (men with damaged eyes and so on) on as crew, though he had a preference for males as crew. I suspect that he didn't particularly like being aggressive towards women if he could help it. He was even able to organize an attack that severely damaged one of Thanos's ships. This faintly connects to his Centaurian connections to nature that he never developed, and has to emulate a plant that he's actually encountered at some point in his life (this includes some of Groot's traits, like glowing pollen). He can't make up things on the fly. However he's well-traveled and has a lot of options to choose from. additional backstory.1. Based in Earth-199999. 2. Based in Earth-616. 3. Headcanon based on surrounding evidence from MCU and Marvel. 4. Pure headcanon. •During his early days as a captain the Ravagers provided some sanctuary during the Skrull ethnic cleansing committed by the Kree. Some still exist as a part of Ravager crews. None remained a part of his crew after his exile.⁴ •He heard about Ronan the Accuser being humiliated by some mysterious Terran woman. It's a 'through the grapevine' account and he had a good laugh about it.³ Extended Permissions.▶CONTENT WARNINGS. Yondu was a slave, and while it's sci-fi space slavery it's a sensitive topic to address. While I don't treat Yondu as ever having experienced sexual assault, I do say he knows slaves that did. He committed verbal and physical abuse towards his adopted son to 'toughen him up', because he suspected his crew might try to force him to go to Ego. Yondu admitted his faults at the end and never went out of his way to actually declare that he felt that Peter was his son so there was less of a burden of obligation on Peter's behalf. That said, he did still pushed him around and threatened him for misbehavior to make him look like an average crewman. People can opt-out of the discussion of it and he likely won't bring it up outside of saying that he wasn't a very good father-figure. ▶THREADING. I'll probably not tag threads back if they're over a week and a half old, sorry. If I've lost the steam for a thread, I won't care to finish it. If the tag is still substantial I may keep going, but for a one or two liner I'll drop the thread. I'm fine with thread-hopping on my posts. I want characters to use any dialog to their benefit. ▶RELATIONSHIPS. Yondu sleeps with an android so it's obvious that he's still capable of having sex and his behavior towards Stakar is suggestive that he once had some sort of romantic feelings for him (maybe not at all reciprocated). I don't think anyone will want to go sleeping with Yondu but I'm open to it if they are. Hugs are welcome, IC reactions dependent. Kisses are also welcome, IC reactions also situational. I do play out smut often. I don't have to, but I do at least like to discuss what would happen if it's their first time. ▶FIN. No controlling Yondu's fin or arrow. The last time I messed with that I put the character in a bad place and made him unplayable, so I'm not repeating that mistake. Comment below for opt-ins or outs. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Yondu Scars and Body/ Alien Irregularities
Yondu Details 2
Books
This is predominantly a photobook and shows strange buildings mostly made of smooth black stone. Curves and soft edges are predominant and most interestingly there is a lack of windows or doors.
The book explains that the rock muffles psycic senses allowing the residents to rest without over simulation from the world outside. Their sense of personal space and private property is very different than many people and so buildings are shared- in a culture where everyone can phase through solid material locks are useless but even so crime is practically non existant.
The photos are stunning- they are mostly just of the buildings and surroundings. When there are people in them they are all wearing masks
Fighter Craft Designs for the Void
A fighter craft enthusiasts book. It contains double page spreads of fighter craft and information about them.
Most of it is not that technical- focusing on history and a couple of stories of heroic deeds.
It is stressed throughout the book that it is against Void Law to fight another void craft within the void.
100 Best Voidcraft
It is the award book for the festival. There are pictures of children of many species with their designs. Some are very basic made of wood or even card. Others are actual working models in miniature.
Each has a small paragraph saying their name, age, a little about what makes their craft so great and their wishes for the future.
Since of the earlier entries are a bit random (void craft with all you can eat ice cream machines) but the later entries and slightly older entrants are more serious with some innovative ideas for safety and comfort.
The Ameqran Void Treaties
A history of the treaties that formed the organization known today as the void ministry. A look at how the laws and freedoms we take for granted today were first agreed upon.
The history is pretty dense and full of jargon but it goes into some of the clashes and early void skirmishes that led to the founding six deciding to band together.
It goes a little into Amegran culture- one led by striving to work together with all people, understanding everyone's needs and creating a society with those ideals as core.
Mercy. The Voidtrain Hospital
A look into one of the first attempts at saving lives through Void travel. A look into the crew and missions of the Voidcraft Mercy.
Mercy a large void-travelling train-hospital. It travelled to conflict zones to bring medical care to those that needed it. Up to five hundred medical staff travelled on Mercy at one time, taking much needed medical equipment and staff to many worlds that needed it the most.
There's a bit about the history- the world it came from suffered a number of natural disasters and it was out of this period of suffering that a group decided to travel the void, using the nature of the void to get to dangerous areas before on-world services could reach them and providing early life saving care.
