Ground is soft if not outright boggy and paths are treacherous. Slopes are liable to turn into mud slides under your feet and some routes seem more like a river than a track.
The passes through the mountains are flanked with dark rock, standing jagged to the sky. The hills themselves are covered in soft springy heather. Cloud is low and you don’t need to be high in the hills to be surrounded by mist. The goblins use this to their advantage, using their superior sight to ambush travellers.
The city is built against a cliff edge. There is one pass through the mountains leading north, with many paths leading off as the cliffs soften into hills. Another pass leads south and that is where the main force of goblins are coming from though there are many advance troops coming over the hills. There is a second route out of the city towards the east that involves a winding path up the cliff and over into the hills beyond." ⦿

The passes through the mountains are flanked with dark rock, standing jagged to the sky. The hills themselves are covered in soft springy heather. The city is built against a cliff edge. There is one pass through the mountains leading north, with many paths leading off as the cliffs soften into hills. Taking off your SCA will result in the air feeling heavier to breathe, though manageable. The biggest issue however is the proximity with the void in basically everything will result in confusion, dizziness, headaches and hallucinations. Not wearing it for half an hour will make you unable to focus or keep to your senses as you see and sense things not there, losing your grip on reason. Resistance to illusions or mind-nonsense will not help you.
Sleeping outside will be impossible as basically mass hallucinations attack your mind. Don’t dream? Now you do.

For those who helped as anchors in the finale of So Familiar a Gleam. Once the adrenaline wears off they will be hit by a deep and total exhaustion which will leave them not able to do much other than sleep, eat and maybe make it to the cinema carriage to flake out in front of a film, until Day 16 (platform day) when, as long as they did rest they will be feeling a bit better though and slowly recover to their full strength.
They will also find that sleep filled with vivid dreams. They aren't necessarily bad, many of them are good but they are strange and very vivid. Sometimes they experience lucid dreaming, falling from dream to dream, aware enough to know they are dreaming but not waking up. Sometimes they just dream of colours and wake with strong emotions of hope, fear, or even wonder for the vastness of the multiverse. These strange dreams will last throughout the month of Merriment though they might get the odd one now and again after that.

Nothing untoward is happening in the sleeper carriages or hire carriages. However those who do sleep may experience some strange dreams.
It is a dark night, though there are stars in the sky. In the distance there is a bonfire lighting up the area. Around it there are figures, they are too far away to make out any features but in the flickering light you can see they wear hoodies in the colours you know well by now.
There is the sound of singing and laughter and you want to approach. But no matter how long you walk the fire is always in the distance, never getting closer. You feel a great longing to be at the fire, but it is out of reach.
Flying through the void itself, colours swirling around you. Dancing and swirling, joy in your heart.
You are lying on your back looking up at the sky. You are comfortable. It may be that you lie on a soft patch of grass, on a sandy beach or in your bed from home. It may even be that you float in water, lie on a rooftop or on the branch of a tree. The important thing is that you feel safe here, you feel comfortable, the temperature is just right.
You are looking up at the most beautiful sky you have ever seen. It may be the bluest of blue. It may be a night sky pricked with a million stars. You may be in space itself. It may even be softly raining or a sky of dark tumultuous storm clouds. But it is beautiful, whatever you deem to be so.
For a moment, everything is just right with the world. But then, from the edges of your vision, there are dark shapes. You can't quite name them. But dark, jagged, wrong. They blot out your perfect sky.
You are falling. The ground beneath you has vanished. Falling not just downwards but upwards, outwards. Your consciousness has shattered, and you are falling in every direction that ever was, falling through reality itself.

A deep sickening fear and one that only intensifies when you come face to face with yourself. Your exact likeness, staring back at you, face twisting in horror as they see you.
They scream. You scream. The scream is echoed and the dream cracks into a thousand fragments. The pieces fall into blackness and you fall with them. Into nothing.
The dream is vivid and sharp and those dreaming it will likely wake at its conclusion with a feeling of great dread. Characters do not need to experience this dream but they may if you wish them to.
